TI, Jungo Release Cable-Modem Gateway Spec
December 11, 2002
By Kevin Reichard

Are we looking at the next generation of residential cable modems? Yes, according to Texas Instruments (TI) and Jungo Software Technologies, who have released a CableHome-based silicon and software reference design allowing multiple system operators to deploy value-added services like secure broadband access, connection sharing, plug-and-play networking, and local and remote web-based management.

The reference design, available today on TI's development platform, integrates Jungo's CableHome-based OpenRG residential gateway software with TI's cable modem/wireless LAN residential gateway design. Jungo's CableHome-based solution was developed and rigorously tested on the TI platform and provides DOCSIS-based customer premise equipment (CPE) developers with a highly integrated development platform for embedded CableHome-based devices.

With the integration of Jungo's OpenRG software suite, TI and Jungo say they can further reduce product development time by providing CPE manufacturers with an off-the-shelf solution that can be easily customized.

Evaluation copies of the TI-Jungo CableHome-based embedded software solution are available today.
