Juniper Networks Inc. said that Wind, a second national carrier in Italy, has selected Juniper Networks' M160 Internet backbone routers to provide its core IP backbone throughout Italy.
Wind offers MPLS services and global IP convergence for fixed, mobile, and Internet telephony. By delivering reliable Internet access to leading businesses with the highest degree of efficiency, Wind's flexible Internet bandwidth and secure IP service offerings rely heavily on Juniper Networks robust and fully scalable M160 routers.
Wind officials, in a statement, said, "Wind's operations team realized the efficiencies of deploying concurrent Internet services using Juniper Networks platforms to provide a fast, reliable, and safe backbone network for their customers. By offering a standardized mechanism for secure Internet connections, Wind has gained a valuable, revenue-producing, MPLS feature set in JUNOS Internet software with packet processing through the Internet Processor II ASIC.
The next step of Wind Italian Internet router rollout involves additional strategic and technological alliances with Juniper Networks, including the deployment of additional Juniper Networks M-series Internet routers for the Wind-wide IP backbone. Further upgrades will offer Wind customers Internet application scalability and security for their businesses, officials added.
